Flamingo Chicks
Shaftesbury High School was delighted to welcome Flamingo Chicks into school.
Flamingo Chicks is a multi-award-winning national charity and inclusive community that gives disabled children the opportunity to explore dance and movement.
Over 30,000 children have danced with them across the UK since their first class in 2013. The charity champions young disabled voices and delivers pioneering activities to develop and support the confidence, creative expression and physical competencies of the children they serve.
Students took part in Performance Deconstructed, a show dedicated to breaking down barriers to theatre, dance and self-expression for young people with a disability
The company brought into school an entirely accessible, mobile, pop-up, sensory stage, which allowed upto 60 students to take part in an interactive, inclusive and exciting show, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
In the summer term, some students will also benefit from weekly dance classes with the company based around a core theme linked with the National Curriculum, and are intertwined with classical ballet themes and techniques.
